The Houston Buddhism Meetup Group exists to bring together Houston area friends interested in Buddhism and to publicize various Buddhist activities. We are fortunate in Houston to have access to many different Buddhist temples and centers, and to be able to explore various methods of practicing Buddhism. There's something for everyone here!

The Group doesn't hold "private" meetup group meetings, but rather it promotes events and meetings at various Houston area Buddhist centers. For this reason, the calendar listings always list a website or contact person for each event. This gives you the opportunity to check directly with the center holding the event to get any questions answered or to see more details on their website.

Also, to clarify some confusion, when you look at a review of a meeting and it reports that three people attended, this means that three members of the Buddhism Meetup Group attended (not that the the total attendance was only three - there may have been 20 people, or 50, or more).

If you know of a Buddhist event in the Houston area and would like it listed on our calendar, please send the details to the group organizer. We're always interested in adding new events and venues! Also, please consider leaving feedback about the meetings you do attend - this is very helpful. This is your group, so please jump in, participate and enjoy yourself.

Buddha teaches about ultimate and conditioned existence in a way that makes Buddhism directly relevant to our daily lives. Understanding this makes the experience of lasting happiness possible. Buddhism does not proclaim dogmas; rather, it encourages critical questioning. Using the right meditations, the intellectual understanding of the teachings becomes a personal experience. Additional methods solidify what is reached in meditation. The goal of Buddha's teachings is the full development of the innate potential of body, speech, and mind. Through his teachings, Buddha is seen as a timeless mirror of mind's inherent potential.
