This Buddhist Center opened in Carrboro in 2006. An ordained monk and teacher from the New Kadampa Tradition comes from Charlotte to teach every Wednesday and Thursday evenings. This tradition comes out of Tibet and now has teachers and centers around the globe. It provides an opportunity to learn and practice a very authentic Buddhist tradition including wonderful meditation practices, and coherent philosophical and spiritual Dharma teachings with lively discussions.
You can read more on our website and see the schedule: www.meditationinchapelhill.org
We charge $8-$10 for classes to cover rent and expenses, but you can sit in on meditation sessions for free. We have a wonderful temple space, free tea, and lots of books.
I have personally been involved with the group for over two years and have felt truly enriched spiritually and intellectually.
The group meets at 711 West Rosemary Street above Carrburito's resturant. The Wednesday night class is from 7-8:30 and is a drop-in class. The Thursday night class is a study group from 7-9pm, and after attending once will require more committment as it explores a traditional text in more depth.
Come and feel invited!
This is our last week of regular classes before the holidays. Come and get some pre-holiday inspiration!
Also, we are engaged in fundraising this week. Please consider an end of the year tax deductible donation. The Kosala Center is a registered non-profit organization completely supported by donations and class fees. Forms will be available at the center. Más información
